What many people do not realize is that curfew violations draw both the minor child AND the parent into court. Juvenile curfew offenders have their cases heard in the JUVENILE Court system. Parents or legal guardians of the juvenile offender are brought into the MUNICIPAL Court on curfew violation charges if their juvenile is found out in public areas beyond curfew. The Vermilion Police Department posts the curfew hours in the Police Station on Decatur Street, and also publishes this information in the newspaper periodically. At present, the curfew for 16-17 year olds is 11:30 p.m. on a school night, and 12:00 a.m. on non-school nights. For youngsters 15 years of age and younger, the curfew is 10:00 p.m. on school nights, and 11:30 p.m. on non-school nights.
